  • 1. I inquired about backround of your band’s name on you website, but I’d like to ask about the meaning of it. You had explain the meaning of words separately, but I wonder what comprehensive essence these words represent ?
  • There is no cohesive meaning to the words in our band name. We merely chose these words as each one had it’s own individual expression of the way we thinkand feel about our music.

Medusa: is a goddess, whose touch or gaze turns mortals into stone. We hope to create a similar effect in our listeners - held fast by the strength of our expression.

Mitra: is the headwear of the Pope. Originally this was a sign of friendship. The church adopted this symbol, but somewhere the true meaning has been lost. We as IN MITRA MEDUSA INRI are friends; not just a group of people assembled to create music. There is a deep bond between us. We have gone through a great deal of highs and lows together, so the original meaning of Mitra is very symbolic for us.

  • 2. You wrote that IN MITRA MEDUSA INRI had become important part of your life and it was the reason of the restart. I can think from this, that there are seriously built spritual-ideological backround behind your activity. If it’s true, write me about this and about your inspirations!
  • It’s true that IN MITRA MEDUSA INRI has become a big part of our life. We live for our music, and the creation of it brightens our lives. I remember last year when we went to the studio to record demo tracks for our CD. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. This year has proved to be much more work and a lot more stressful - but it is all working towards a goal. Our inspiration is our everyday life - our dreams, our visions and everyday problems become lyrics for our music. It is very important that our music and lyrics from sybiosis - work together harmoniously. Both the music and lyrics describe a very personal side of us and gives an insight to our thoughts and feelings.

  • 3. You wrote about good reactions, wide appreciation. The Long Forgotten World really deserve the appreciation. I think it mixes Joy Divisions melancholy with a special atmosphere. Your new promo CD has more modern and electronic sound. How does it fit into you former conception?
  • The new songs should be 1996, Long Forgotten World. The songs of Long Forgotten World were very minimalistically arranged. The new songs of the promo Cd are much more instrumentalized and much more detailed in their work. For us it is an expansion of what we started in 1996. We are very satisfied with the results but we are going to continue trying to improve ourselves in search of the optimal sound. On the way, there will certainly be changes and developments in arrangments and sounds.

  • 4. I was glad to read about your concert in Wave Gothic Treffen in Leipzig, we want to go there. It means your band look towards an active concert period?
  • We play in several festivals this year. Actually, we have three confirmed gigs. The first one it at the W.G.T. in Leipzig. The second is at a local festival in Mönchengladbach (near Düsseldorf, Germany)

On the 11th and 12th of August called the City Movement, and the third is at the Herbstnächte at the Burg Rabenstein on the 29th and 30th of September. These three festivals are the first we have played in over three years, so we are a little nervous and hope the enjoy our music.

  • 5. In your biography’s prologue you publish anti-church thoughts. Allthough I agree with you, but such ideas can misunderstand. Why did you consider to give expression to this? I think church has less power in Europe than in the past.
  • I am not sure that the church does not have as much power as in the past. Here in Germany we have large discussions on the topic of abtortion. The church always has a part in these discussions and the church still has a great deal of influence. We believe that people should be able to make their own choices in matters like these. We also don’t agree with the facade created by the church and they are not adapting to modern times. Each religion has it’s laws and rules, and each person has to decide on their own how much of this they will accept. Our opinion is that you don’t have to join a religious community to believe in God or a higher Being.

  • 6. What are you plans in immediate and distant future?
  • Plans for the future? In the immediate future - in August or September this year - we hope to publish a mini CD. It is uncertain whether or not it will be our own label or if there will be another music label under which we will publish our music. We hope that this will be clear before our concert in Leipzig. In November or December we would like to publish a long player, but this is also dependant on which label we use. We would like to go on a concert tour with another band in Feb. 2002. This decision will most likely be made at the end of this year. It is our greatest hope that all our events turn out the way we have planned.>

As al finel note, we would like to say that the magazine ORKUS will soon publish a CURE TRIBUTE Sampler. We have covered the song JUST LIKE HEAVEN on this CD and the release date will be July or August.
